Nominations for the Poet Laureate of Jamaica closes on Friday, March 1, 2024.  

 Criteria for Selection: 

  1. The Poet Laureate must be a Jamaican, defined as either born in Jamaica or of Jamaican parentage or a naturalised citizen. 

  2. The Poet Laureate is not required to reside in Jamaica. However, he /she must be available for a minimum of four (4) official appearances in each calendar year.

  3. Poet Laureates must have at least three publications of poetry, anthologies not included.
