Nomination Process

Nominations for the Poet Laureate of Jamaica, 2017 – 2019 opens on Monday, January 9, 2017, and closes on Monday, February 13, 2017. 

 Criteria for Selection:

1. The Poet Laureate must be a Jamaican, defined as either born in Jamaica or of Jamaican parentage or a naturalised citizen.
2. The Poet Laureate is not required to reside in Jamaica. However, he /she must be available for a minimum of four (4) official appearances in each calendar year.

• Poet Laureates must have at least three publications of poetry, anthologies not included.
