Legacy of Faiths Programme

It is without question the value and legacy of the historical footprints of the church and faith-based groups to Jamaica must be curated and preserved.  

The National Library of Jamaica has found a high density of faith-based organizations in Jamaica.  However, resource supporting religious and faith-based organizations are inadequately represented in our national collection  to meet the demand of researcher and for the preservation of the nation’s history and heritage for posterity.  The NLJ seeks to reach out to church community through the Legacy of Faith Programme with a hope to close this collection gap and to create a church libraries network under the umbrella of the Jamaica Library and Information Network.

Legacy of Faith Programme seeks to close the collection gap of the National Library of Jamaica with a projected increase in the collection reflecting 80% of the church imprints by 2027.

Through the National Library of Jamaica Act (2010), The National Library of Jamaica is empowered to collect and preserve any document published in Jamaica, about Jamaica or by a Jamaican.  Come join us on this mission!
