Donations

Guidelines for Donation of Materials

The National Library of Jamaica welcomes offers of donations for its collections, in both print and electronic formats; these donations will help to build the richness, diversity and depth of the collections. The National Library of Jamaica collect publications print and non-print issued or produced in Jamaica, produced by Jamaicans living abroad, or produced abroad about Jamaica or Jamaicans.

  • Ephemera Manuscripts and Archives
  • Cartographic Material (Maps etc)
  •  Newspapers
  • Photographs
  • Posters
  • Prints
  • Programmes (funeral, special functions etc.)
  • Serials
  • Theses

Conditions of Acceptance

 

Items donated to the National Library of Jamaica must be appropriate to the role of the library and align with meeting the vision and mission of the library. All donations are evaluated in keeping with the National Library of Jamaica’s Collections Development Policy and all items donated must be in suitable conditions. Items donated to the library become the property of the

library, with the library obtaining full ownership and these items once accepted by the library will not be returned to the donor. National Library of Jamaica reserves the right to decide on the use or disposal of any donations received as best found.

How to Make an Offer

For all donations received by the National Library of Jamaica a written letter of acknowledgment will be sent to each donor.
