The National Library of Jamaica (NLJ) proudly announces the digital release of a scientific treasure: “Study on the Biology of the Beach Clam, Donax (Bivalvia, Donacidae) in the West Indies” by renowned researcher Barry Wade (June 1965). For the first time, this pivotal thesis, is among two of his publications, now freely accessible worldwide, enriching our understanding of Caribbean marine ecology.  Spread across 750 digitized pages of text are:

  1. Study on the Biology of the Beach Clam, Donax (Bivalvia, Donacidae) in the West Indies
  2. The Pollution Ecology of Kingston Harbour Jamaica Volume 1-3

We extend heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Wade’s widow, Merle Wade, and daughter, Ruth Wade Kwakwa, who personally visited the NLJ to donate the original manuscript. Their generosity ensures this vital work joins Jamaica’s national collection, preserving his legacy for scholars and nature enthusiasts alike.
